By Doing What You Love {Positive Thinking Thursday 6.9.16}

If you are reading this, there's a good chance that I was thinking of you when I saw this quote.

Thank you for doing what you love.

It inspires me, teaches me, and motivates me every day.

As we begin our summer stretch, remember to stay in touch and continue to share your passions with others. Whether this be the books you read, the things you learn, or the adventures you take, following your passions and sharing them with others is important.

You never know who needs to read your words.

You never know who is waiting for the inspiration that you deliver.

You never know if there's a connection waiting to happen.

You never know.

Believe in Your Wings {Positive Thinking Thursday 5.12.16}

The Comfort Zone is overrated.

Sure, it's easy to hang out there -- you've certainly got lots of company -- but that's not where you were meant to stay.

After awhile, the Comfort Zone becomes quite boring.

Nothing new really happens.

Routine is The Rule in the comfort zone.

But watch out -- You can get stale in the Comfort Zone if you're not careful.

Life in the comfort zone applies to our classrooms as well.

Think about it...How much time do you spend doing the same thing day in and day out, staying stuck in a routine?

How about your students? Do they know that the best learning often comes from taking chances and  trying to do new things?

What is calling you to reach out?

To leave your Comfort Zone?

Give yourself permission to try.

Give your students permission to try.

Believe in your wings.

Perseverance {Positive Thinking Thursday 5.05.16}

The days are winding down.

I don't have to look at a calendar to see it.

I can feel it.

Our students are perhaps a bit more chatty and perhaps a bit less enthusiastic about the lesson we have planned for the day.

But we have worked hard this year.  Our students have worked hard.

There's still a little work to do......

Finish strong!

      Keep going!

End big!

     We've got this!

Persevere!

{It's what we do.}

Positively Thinking about My Tribe {#SOL16 Day 31}

Here we are.

The finish line of the 2016 Slice of Life challenge.

31 days ago, today seemed so far away.  Looking back, the time flew.

I end this challenge with a Positive Thinking Thursday salute to all of you -- my tribe!

Putting slices of our lives out into the world takes a lot of trust. Knowing that my words will be held gently is an act of faith. The words of confirmation and inspiration that you have returned to me in the form of comments has meant the world to me.

Thank you for being a part of my life for the past 31 days.

Thank you for letting me be a part of yours.

You are my tribe.

PS -- Please continue to check back here on Thursdays for a weekly taste of positive thinking.

Positively Thursday {#SOL16 Day 24}

Thursdays are the days that I love to share positive thoughts.  I call it Positive Thinking Thursday.

This week's positive thoughts are dedicated to all of us teachers.  I am honored to be a part of such a life changing profession.

 To all of you superheroes -- have a great day!

Positively Thursday {#SOL16 Day 10}

Reading a regular dose of inspirational thoughts has truly changed my outlook on life.  I have a Pinterest page dedicated to positive thinking and when I need a little boost, I scroll through it.

I used to consider myself a pretty "glass half empty" person.  But about four years ago, I began my regular practice of soaking in positive thoughts.  (Pinterest played a big role in this.) Amazingly, the more I read about positive thinking, the more I was able to default to the "bright" side of things.  I just love it!

Every Thursday, I pay tribute to positive thinking by proclaiming it Positive Thinking Thursday.  At school, I leave a small positive thought in the staff lounge for staff to take if they'd like.

Since I won't see you at school later (Ana, Bridget & Chiper excluded), I thought I'd share a little positivity with you today.  Hopefully you will find one that speaks to you.

If you need a little extra pep talk today, this little girl has got the perfect message for you:

Wishing you a positively happy day!

A Little Positivity {#SOL16 Day 4}

I have started a bit of a tradition at my school called Positive Thinking Thursday.  Every Thursday, I put copies of a positive quote or inspirational picture on a table in our staff lounge for anyone to take.  By the end of the day, most of the quotes are gone.

I've been doing this for about three years now and it's become a much anticipated part of every week.  Friends at school will even send me positive thoughts that they find on Facebook or Twitter to add to the PTT repertoire.

Some weeks, the PTT thought is serious.  Some weeks, it is silly.  Here are a few of my favorites from past Positive Thinking Thursdays:

I think Positive Thinking Thursday has had a part in the warm and upbeat culture at my school.  When I visit other rooms, I will often find some of the PTT thoughts pinned to a bulletin board or taped to the wall by a teacher's desk.  I love that!  It tells me that quote spoke to someone other than me.

I hope you will consider starting a Positive Thinking Thursday tradition at your school too!  It's very easy and the rewards are great.

Wishing you a positive day!

Positive Thinking Thursday {10-2-14}

It has been a beautiful few weeks here in southeast Wisconsin.  The weather has been so nice that you would swear that it was still summer.  I will take each beautiful day I can get because I'm sure winter
will be here before I know it.

The zinnias in my garden are loving the warm days and cool nights.  Aren't they lovely?
When I saw this on Pinterest, I knew it would be the perfect positive thought for this time of year:
So where are you planning on soaring to soon?

Have an amazing day!
