Saturdays are a great day for reflecting on the week. Oh, what a week it was!
1. So many successful author/classroom Skypes that I helped facilitate for my school. The students and staff will remember this experience for a long time to come, I hope!
2. Last Saturday was the UW-Milwaukee Writing Project's Conference on the Teaching of Writing that I helped facilitate. It was an awesome conference!
3. On Tuesday, I had to go see an oral surgeon about a skin graft that I need to have on my gum. I have been dreading this appointment for a long time, but I am celebrating my bravery in actually going to the appointment AND for scheduling the surgery for April.
4. My husband went out to Yellowstone for a week of snowmobiling with his dad. He came home last night. I missed him!
5. The clock is changing tonight. I will gladly change one lost hour of sleep for one extra hour of light for many days to come.
That is an amazing week! Good luck with your surgery!
ReplyDeleteI had oral skin graft surgery (2 total) and it's not that bad. The worst part is where they take the graft from (it feels like a pizza burn) rather than the stitched on part. I'd love to hear more about your author skypes. That's something I've not done before, although had one planned for last summer with my young authors with Amy Ludwig Vanderwater but we had a technology glitch!

ReplyDeleteI celebrate your bravery!!!! I'll say a prayer for a quick, easy healing from the surgery in April. I, too, can't WAIT for more sunlight. It seems to feel like a dark & cold winter! I'm ready to FLY into spring! Congrats on the conference last week!! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love the author skype sessions. What a neat idea I'll have to look into for my school. Any suggestions on authors? Best of luck on the oral surgery. Your bravery is something to celebrate indeed!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post because I am a list maker. In fact, sometimes I put stuff on a list just so I can cross it off...I know, it's weird. I am going to have to give this type of post a try. You created a post that is succinct and engaging at the same time. Oh, and thanks for the reminder about the clocks!
ReplyDeleteWe Skyped with author during a summer camp and it was so much fun. I really need to try that again, but it is harder in a middle school. Congrats on making that appointment and scheduling that surgery. Some things shouldn't be put off.
ReplyDeleteWhat a diverse and rich week. Good luck with the surgery. You are extremely brave to do what needs to be done.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy but fabulous week! I've also had gum grafts, and they aren't a big deal. I don't remember any pain, just minor discomfort. I needed no recovery time away from work. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteCelebrations help to focus on the great moments from your week. You've had some memory makers.
